Depp And Burton To Team Up For Re-imagined Classic With "More Whiskers, Less Hygiene" Says Burton

Burbank, CA-

With "Dark Shadows" premiering only forty-seven days ago and already having recouped nearly 50% of its $150 million production budget, the Midas touch dream team are giddily hinting at their next collaboration. "We don't want to give anything away just yet," director Tim Burton says with a coy grin, "but we're going to pick one from a couple of classic stories we're considering-- both of which are essentially children's tales, but with some surprisingly dark elements," the auteur teased. "At this point in my career I find myself more and more drawn to those dark elements. I want to explore that, for once. I want to take a fairy tale and knock it on its ear, to invert it and find its nightmare doppelganger," he continued.
Depp could not be more enthusiastic about the project or his director. "The guy is just the most versatile and thought-provoking director of our generation. I mean, he can do everything from a dreary, creepy Batman to a dreary, creepy Sweeney Todd. And he can make you feel, man," Depp offers as he takes a slow drag on his unfiltered French cigarette and runs his fingers through his shoulder-length hair in a completely unpracticed way. "He'll take you through the whole gamut of emotions, from anxious to queasy to uncomfortable, and back again."
The world awaits this gem. When I pressed Mr. Burton for more about this mystery project all he would say was, "Expect more whiskers and less hygiene."
